In an effort to maximize the level of data security and enhance its backup processes and procedures, London & Capital, a firm of investment advisers and asset managers, has signed a three-year contract with cloud and IT managed services provider Oncore IT.
The London-based firm will provide a public cloud-based backup solution to London & Capital, which is moving away from a legacy tape solution that was managed in-house for core company data.
Oncore IT is supplying three TB of online backup on its Asigra-based cloud storage platform, which will allow London & Capital to lower costs and improve security, according to Glenn Murphy, London & Capital’s head of IT.
“Shifting to a third party to manage our backup and restore systems reduces the management, IT and cost overhead on our business,” Murphy said in a statement. “Expenditure becomes operational rather than capital, and we commit to an established and compliant back up and restoration solution managed by a specialist.”??
A specific secure London & Capital storage “vault” has been created on Oncore IT’s storage platform with data from its core applications loaded into it, such as trade order and portfolio management systems.
London & Capital, which is an independent wealth management firm that manages $3.3 billion of investments for its clients globally, chose Oncore IT because of the company’s competitive pricing and implementation process.
“Having reviewed various suppliers, we selected Oncore IT and Asigra given the competitive cost of the storage, and the ease of implementation which means the time overhead for deployment has been low,” Murphy added. “And of course, we can scale the amount of data we store on-demand based on our business needs and any future regulatory requirements.”
Earlier this year, Oncore IT announced that the company is providing specialist recruitment consultancy JFL a range of IT services including: desktop, server, firewall and network infrastructure management, 24/7 monitoring, e-mail antivirus and spam technology, SSL access for remote working, Blackberry Enterprise Server support, 250 GB of online backup, disaster recovery (DR), Internet connectivity and prepaid engineer time.
Company officials said all IT services are backed by service level agreements to ensure and guarantee IT availability.
