iPad of the Board

By Robbie Pleasant, TMCnet Contributor

While the iPad may be an incredibly popular consumer device, one must wonder if they remain as common and effective in a business environment. The answer is a resounding “Yes.”

iPads are used by workers from the cubicles to the boardroom, proving as effective in businesses as on the go. U.K. tablet sales have grown by nearly 65 percent this last quarter, with iPad sales accounting for almost three quarters of those – an increase of well over 50 percent.

In order to help provide executives with a secure way to use their iPads while in board meetings, Diligent Boardbooks Ltd. has a secure iPad app. By transitioning from board papers to a digital version, board directors can have easier access and annotation for documents, along with search and voting features.

Last-minute changes are made quickly and easily across devices, not to mention the paper it saves.

“Diligent Boardbooks offers an effective way to securely modernize internal communications due to its concierge-level service, intuitive interface and compatibility with the latest devices,” said Charlie Horrell, European managing director of Diligent Boardbooks Ltd. “Making the switch to an electronic portal is a natural progression for businesses and one which is altering the way company leaders and boards communicate on their most critical decisions.”

The iPad is undoubtedly the tablet of choice for many professionals, so there’s a need for professional-level apps made for important meetings. For board members, many of whom already own iPads of their own, being able to use them in meetings can save time and paper, so the app from Diligent Boardbooks can prove very convenient.

If the chairman of the board prefers an Android (News - Alert) tablet, that might be another story, but for the iPad crowd, it’s a useful tool to have.
