Pandora 4.0 Available for Android and iOS

By Brittany Walters-Bearden, TMCnet Contributor

Pandora (News - Alert) has eagerly made their 4.0 version available to Android and iOS users to supply music streaming to its large listening audience. Pandora announced that they have just completed and launched their biggest restructuring of their successful smartphone application since its conception. Their newest version is available for both Android (News - Alert) and Apple phones and has been designed to provide a better experience for listeners with more functions and information readily available.

Pandora users will now be able to use Pandora as a form of social media. This will be a major feature, as more than 75 percent of users are using smartphones or other mobile devices. Users will also be able to have a place to share songs and find users to follow with similar interests, like the social giants Facebook and Twitter (News - Alert). In a world of over-sharing, the ability to share listening selections with friends and followers is something that will, no doubt, be a favorite feature of many users and help Pandora to reach out to new users through the social media platforms of their current users.

Advertising revenue is a large part of Pandora’s success. They are second to Google (News - Alert) in revenue taken in through mobile advertising. With competitors like “I Heart Radio” and “Live 365” entering the market, these changes to their mobile app could potentially help them keep their top advertising spot.

Some of the key changes coming with Pandora 4.0 are updated artist pages that will make it easier for listeners to learn more about the favorite artist by giving more information about the song, the album, and what stations are playing their favorite artist. Listeners will have more detailed biographies and past recordings of the artist they are listening to.

Pandora 4.0 is available to users via the App Store for Apple (News - Alert) users and the Google Play store for Android users in weeks to come.
