ITEXPO: CloudTC Puts a Smartphone in Your Desk Phone

By Robbie Pleasant, TMCnet Contributor

While smartphones and tablets have been receiving much attention and innovation, with touch screens and all the applications available for them, desk phones have been seeing slightly less focus. This is unfortunate to those who still use their desktop phones for most of their business calls, and would like the same functionality and features offered by smartphones. Fortunately, CloudTC Inc. knows this, and has smart IP desk phones made to do everything that a smartphone can.

While regular desk phones may connect to one’s office, they don’t truly interact with anything. The phones from CloudTC, on the other hand, can connect to one’s computer and the company network. They contain all the uses and benefits of a smartphone, only tweaked and altered for office phone use. As such, they’re standard SIP phones with all the features of a regular office phone such as call transfer, call recording, etcetera, as well as applications available through the app store.

CloudTC’s phones use a touchscreen with an intuitive user interface. They’re certified by Broadsoft and Metaswitch, and can work with NEC (News - Alert) or Shoretel systems with standard SIP interface. While there is competition from Polycom and Panasonic, CloudTC’s usability and robust app market lets it go head-to-head with the best of them.

The Glass 1000 phone has been shipping for over a year now, offering a touchscreen LCD, up to six lines, and built-in app market, providing apps such as screen sharing, Salesforce calling and more. With a Google Android (News - Alert) OS, it has a proven system behind it, and can be configured to meet the needs of each individual.

However, in the world of technology, one year old is already outdated. That’s why, at ITEXPO (News - Alert), CloudTC will be unveiling the Glass 1100. With double the memory of the previous model, it also provides Power Over Ethernet (POE), a USB port, and all the features of the previous model, such as Bluetooth capabilities, call logs, and integration with Google Contacts and Calendar as well as Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook contacts to call contacts with a single touch.

“A lot of innovation in communications has happened on the consumer side with smartphones and tablets,” says Anthony Gioeli, president and CEO of CloudTC, Inc. “And what CloudTC is doing is it’s bringing that functionality back into the corporate environment via a new category of smart IP phones.”

For all the hubbub over smartphones, the desk phone should not be overlooked. CloudTC can offer desk phones that can do anything a mobile smartphone can, while connecting the same way any other desk phone would for optimal quality.
