PastBook Looking for Better Picture Consolidation Application

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

Everyone knows that Instagram is one of most popular photography applications around. Companies from all over are developing applications that work with Instagram to make the service all the better.

Pastbook is the latest software that looks to take all that Instagram has to offer and make it that much better. Pastbook is actually a little more than simply another service that interacts with Instagram. This startup company actually wants to make it that much easier to consolidate photos you have in a whole host of different services, making it easier to keep them organized and find them when you really want them.

The new company, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands is part of the RockStart.Accelerator program and the goal of the project is to actually consolidate pictures that are both offline and online.

The company got a big boost today when it announced that it received a $250,000 financing round from Noro Venture Capital, Vidoze BV and several other unidentified investors. That investment is teamed with the previous money given to the project from RockStart that covered office space and mentoring of new employees.

The program will be launched as an addition to Instagram first, with other services expected to be added over the next few months. Pastbook allows for people to take their photos from Instagram and make them into an online book that can be look at through the web, downloaded as a PDF or even made into a professionally printed photo book. The comments and “likes” on a photo can be kept when turning it into the photo book in order to make the memories that much better.

Cloud- based photo application isn’t anything all that new. Pastbook says that the application is different because instead of another application that actually creates another timeline, this particular application is more than just printing and sharing. Whether consumers believe that is enough of a difference to choose it over other more well-known applications, has yet to be seen, but the goal of the project seems to be pretty cool.
