Imagine spending just $10 a month per user and getting infinite storage on a mobile device. That’s what Bitcasa is offering its customers.

How does it work?

“By taking the cloud and integrating it into the device itself, now you’re coupling the capacity of the device from the device itself,” Tony Gauda, CEO of Bitcasa, explained in a recent interview with TMCnet’s Erik Linask (News - Alert). “We fool the device into thinking that Bitcasa is the actual storage system itself.”

Information is then basically streamed into the cloud for storage. To see the full interview, see the video below.

Meanwhile, in recent weeks Bitcasa announced how it is expanding its staff. The company has also launched its open Beta version for Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems this past June, according to a blog post. 

“We are constantly working to improve the desktop product, and also working on developing some really cool apps to live up to our ‘Infinite Storage Everywhere’ credo,” the company added in the blog post.

“As part of that ‘be everywhere’ strategy, we launched a browser extension for Google (News - Alert) Chrome. The extension allows you to save files you find on the web straight to Bitcasa.”

As of early this year, Bitcasa said it supports, “Sync,” where changes users make on one computer will be updated on all computers they are logged into. “Send,” which allows users to instantly send terabytes of data to friends by right clicking any cloudified file or folder. And “Invite,” which allows users to invite a limited number of friends to Bitcasa. Users can send their friends terabytes of pictures, movies or music.
