This week, Barnes & Noble decided to drop the costs for several of its popular e-readers.

When it comes to reading e-books, you have a lot of choices. You can read them on your PC, pick them up on your smartphone or tablet, or you could get a device devoted just to your reading.

When all is said and done, getting a device just for reading makes a lot of sense if you don't want to wear the battery out on your phone, or if you just want an experience that gives you a more paper-like feel with less in the way of screen glare. So now that you’ve decided to get an e-reader, you have a question to answer. Which one will you buy? That’s a question the maker of every e-reader device hopes you’ll answer with the name of their product.

Prices of Barnes & Noble’s Nook Tablet and Nook Color have gone down, with the Nook Color and 8GB version of the Nook Tablet both seeing $20-price drops. The Nook Tablet, with 16GB of memory, is getting a more significant price drop of about $50. While most companies won't drop prices to the point of seriously decreased profitability, a certain number of price drops can be a strategic way to get your product in users’ hands.

Barnes & Noble held no event to announce the price drop. It simply changed the prices on its website and put up a graphic with the changed prices.
