The Real Entrepreneurs (Not Housewives) of Silicon Valley to Make its Debut

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

The technology headquarters of the country located in Silicon Valley will soon be getting its 15 minutes of fame. And no, it’s not because of a breakthrough invention, but instead comes in the form of a Bravo reality series.

Dubbed “Silicon Valley” for now at least, the series that is being captured as we speak and will be making its way to your television set early winter, features young and thirsty individuals looking to make their mark in the budding technology industry.

According to The New York TimesThe Social Network came out, specifically based on the motives behind the reason Zuckerberg first unveiled his game-changing social media site — to show girls who had dissed him in the past what they were missing. , the reality program was actually thought of after the movie

Zuck’s sister Randi is actually executive producer of the show and stated, “Inspiring more people to pursue an entrepreneurial American dream can only be a good thing.”

However, with reality T.V. literally taking over much of the content show on major channels nowadays, do we really need yet another series that shows party hardy young adults looking to jump start their up and coming businesses?

Whether you tune in or not is something you will ultimately have to decide yourself, but already people are voicing their hate for the upcoming release with Kevin Rose, an entrepreneur and venture capitalist, leading the pack via his Twitter (News - Alert) (News - Alert) account stating, “Yuck, please stay in LA.”

In all fairness though, one way in which this show differs from other Bravo-produced mindless television is that it actually features extremely intelligent, business savvy individuals just trying to get their name and maybe their products out there to the world.

Take for example Ben and Hermione Way, a brother-and-sister duo who open up to camera crews about the $500,000 grant they have just received that will be utilized to create a fitness app. “Four no’s and one yes,” Hermione stated. “Not exactly people throwing money at us.” He then proceeded to speak about how he came up with this application while out at a bar.

While maybe not as exciting to some as good old cat fights shown daily on The Real Housewives of pick your major city because the content likely already exists, I bet my money that people looking to jump into entrepreneurship will be sure to take some notes on what these select few and are doing wrong and more importantly, what they are doing right.
