Between apps, smart phones, videos and data, music continues to be the most widely shared and desired aspect of this generation.  It’s inevitable that every person thrives on good music, and with so many new ways to enhance our listening experience, it has come in even greater demand. People today want to access their music on the go, and additionally seek simpler ways to search for a new favorite artist or song.  Recently recognized as a new free radio app for mobile devices, music subscription company Spotify has decided to team up with Pandora, Slacker (News - Alert), and Songza to offer a free radio service for mobile devices within the U.S.

According to Yahoo’s reports, Spotify (News - Alert) has been charging $10 per month to access its mobile app, and is now using the free service to promote their company so that users will ultimately sign up for a paid subscription in order to choose songs.  Those who do not pay are now able to listen to different genres of music based on similarities of an artist, album, song or playlist they’ve created within the app.  When Spotify began promoting their online service, they came to realize one thing – consumers desired use of this service through mobile devices as well, and customers got what they asked for. With its increasing popularity, Spotify has been gaining several more permanent subscribers as well.

Charlie Hellman, Spotify’s vice-president of product, stated, “We found those that use radio are really some of the most highly engaged users of Spotify, they stay longer and are more likely to upgrade.”  The app has done a justice in boosting the company’s overall success in gaining over 3 million paying subscribers across the globe, according to the recent Yahoo article. Not only this, but it has also been used by about 10 million people within the past 30 days.

It seems as though people will always have that love and need for music – no matter where they are – and will go to any means to obtain it.
