HBO GO now Available on Kindle Fire

By Allison Boccamazzo, TMCnet Web Editor

If you’re anything like me, you love (okay, are unhealthily obsessed with) HBO. The only problem with this seemingly flawless product is that it’s only available to those paying for a channel subscription, meaning if you’re not shelling out the dough to watch it on your TV screen, you can’t access its popular addition which enables the program to be portable.

If you haven’t heard, a new trend has popped up that’s been spreading over the Web like wildfire: www.takemymoneyhbo.com, which essentially asks individuals to tweet how much money they’d be willing to pay for a standalone HBO GO streaming service, ultimately imploring HBO to literally take their money.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, HBO GO allows users to instantly access more than 1,400 titles, including every last episode of every season of the best HBO shows remotely using laptops and smart devices.

Right now, I’m imploring my parents to keep HBO so I can watch my all-time favorite show (True Blood) –  as it premieres this weekend – but if the opportunity was presented, I would definitely pay for a standalone service to alleviate the burden for my parents, who don’t watch HBO at all.

Additionally, if you’re like me and own a Kindle Fire, you’d be even more willing to pay for a standalone HBO GO service, as it’s now available from the Amazon Appstore starting today. With your Kindle Fire, you’ll now be able to watch your favorite HBO series such as Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, and Girls, while of course including classic favorites like The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and Deadwood.

This new features also allows Kindle Fire users to personalize their HBO watching experience by allowing them to create watchlists, which keep track of their bookmarked content and allow them to view it later or whenever is most convenient. Users are also treated to being able to organize their content in a customizable slideshow, grid, or list format, as well as access to exclusive interviews, recaps, and behind-the-scenes extras.

So to all of you Kindle Fire users who are HBO subscribers, you very literally can go watch your favorite HBO shows right now!
