Challenge to Check-in for Denny's Breakfast

By Lyndsay Krisel, TMCnet Contributor

Are you familiar with the well-known, popular smart phone app Foursquare (News - Alert)? If so, then you may or may not have already heard of Denny’s new release of their first ever-mobile app - if you fancy all-American diner breakfast, that is.

Foursquare is an application for smart phones, which allows a person to check-in to specific locations such as, their favorite breakfast spot for instance, to let others know what they are up to. It has also proven itself attractive to young kids based on its ability to unlock codes, and gain points so that they can receive special discounts at their favorite places.

Denny’s decided to create its own check-in app, “because it allowed more flexibility and functionality for future mobile campaigns,” explained Chief Marketing Officer of Denny’s corporation Francis Allen.

They also wanted to be able to tie in loyalty rewards with its menus. The old classic diner has quite a challenge going for its many customers with ownership of either an iPhone or Android (News - Alert), and the only requirement is that one install Denny’s app to get started.   Users then formulate teams of up to three by sending each other invites through the app. The groups that check in to Denny’s locations in all 50 states will receive free Grand Slam breakfasts for up to a year.

Can’t find a teammate? Not to worry, solo users can also compete for the grand prize, including free Grand Slams for life for the first person who checks into a Denny’s in each state.

If cheesy diner breakfasts happen to not be what gets you going in the morning, the app is still useful to win a variety of other loyalty-based prizes and virtual badges. Users who check in to a Denny’s location 10 times will receive 10 percent off their checks, as an example. Twenty-five check-ins merits a free “Pancake Puppies” sundae, according to Mashable

Other constructive parts of the app include access to Denny’s menu, nutritional information, and a restaurant locator, so that you and your friends can get together for breakfast in any nearby Denny’s with just a few clicks on your smart phone.
