Internet-based social expression and personal publishing service Shutterfly, Inc., today welcomed Kodak (News - Alert) Gallery customers to Shutterfly, ABC News reported. Shutterfly also recently acquired certain assets of Kodak Gallery’s online service, including U.S. and Canadian customers and their images as part of Kodak’s restructuring efforts.
Shutterfly operates Shutterfly.com, Tiny Prints.com, Weddingpaperdivas.com, and Treat.com. Shutterfly provides high quality products and services that makes it convenient and fun for consumers to creatively preserve digital photos. The company’s flagship product is its award-winning photo book line that helps consumers to celebrate memories in professionally bound books. Recently, Shutterfly was named one of the top 25 best midsized companies to work for by the Great Place to Work Institute.
“I am thrilled to welcome millions of Kodak Gallery customers to the Shutterfly family. Our priority is to ensure every photo gets safely and securely transferred to Shutterfly,” said Jeffrey Housenbold, president and chief executive officer of Shutterfly, in a statement.
Working together with Kodak Gallery over the coming months, Shutterfly will transfer every Kodak Gallery customer photo to the Shutterfly platform, free of charge. Once Kodak Gallery customers activate their Shutterfly account, they will benefit from Shutterfly’s services including free, unlimited storage of original resolution photos and a customer satisfaction guarantee.
Kodak Gallery and Shutterfly offer similar services, where basic sharing of photos is free and users pay for prints, photo books, digital copies on DVDs and other products. The services still make money, but demand has declined over the past few years as people increasingly share photos online through social networks.

Kodak Gallery customers have until May 28th to choose to opt out of moving their photos to Shutterfly. After this date, Kodak Gallery customers can link their Kodak Gallery account to a new Shutterfly account.
