By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

The Security Products 2012 Gold Govies Government Security Award in the Fire/Life Safety category has been presented to AtHoc IWSAlerts emergency mass notification system.

The Govies Award recognizes outstanding technologies used by government and AtHoc is said to have been honored for its commitment to the integration of traditional fire-life safety systems with its EMNS platform and also for its capacity to deliver emergency communications systems to the U.S. federal government.

AtHoc explained that its IWSAlerts is a highly secure, enterprise-class network-centric mass notification and emergency communication system. It transforms the IP network into an enterprise-class mass notification system. Through deployment, large private and public sector enterprises can rapidly and reliably alert thousands of employees in geographically dispersed buildings and facilities during an emergency.

The AtHoc enterprise-class EMNS platform offers full integration with legacy fire/life safety systems, converting them into a state-of-the-art, bi-directional system capable of leveraging a broad array of communication channels, sensors and devices. It is faster safer and more effective than conventional fire-life systems because of following this unified tactic. These were the features that were supposedly considered for the award.

With EMNS/fire safety platform, fire-related alerts can be triggered automatically via fire alarm events or manually initiated from a single, unified web-based console. Alerts not just inform about the impending threat but also describe it detail along with classifying the threat level for affected personnel and the necessary instructions for action.

“We are honored to be recognized by this Govies Award as testament to the strength and prominence of AtHoc as the market's leading provider of EMNS systems to the military, first responder and public sector, along with the market-tested integration of our EMNS platform with many of the world's leading fire-life safety systems,” said Dubhe Beinhorn, AtHoc Vice President of Sales and Business Development for the Public Sector, in a press release.

In related news, Gartner (News - Alert) recognized AtHoc as leader in magic quadrant and U.S. Army expanded worldwide deployments of AtHoc platform.
