Avaya Piggybacks on Enterprise Application Demand with DevConnect Select Product Program

By Carrie Schmelkin, TMCnet Web Editor

Taking advantage of the heightened demand for enterprise communication applications as of late, Avaya (News - Alert) has decided to ride the wave of application interest and today unveiled its DevConnect Select Product Program, which simplifies the way customers order Avaya-compatible, third-party collaboration applications.

Thanks to the new program, both Avaya customers and channel partners can now order particular DevConnect (News - Alert) Technology Partner applications directly from Avaya or its distributors instead of having to go through DevConnect partner companies or their resellers.

"This is just the beginning of Avaya DevConnect bringing a simplified and streamlined model to the process of ordering enterprise communications applications,” said Eric Rossman (News - Alert), vice president of Developer Relations, Avaya. “Through a single source, businesses can buy compelling, third-party applications that work seamlessly with their Avaya platform. We think this will bring new benefits to our customers, our channel partners and our growing community of third-party developers."

With the DevConnect Select Product Program, applications that are chosen from a DevConnect Technology Partner and are placed in the Select Product Program can be purchased either individually or as part of the complete Avaya-based communications solution in order to bring new features to a customer's operations. In so doing, the need for multiple vendor relationships and transactions is eradicated and the ordering process is streamlined for customers and Avaya Connect Channel partners.

The applications that are available through the Select Product Program are selected by Avaya officials after they have been proven interoperable through DevConnect Compliance Testing and characterized as essential for enhancing Avaya's portfolio offering.

Currently, eight DevConnect Technology Partners have been selected as part of the initial program, and these partners offer technologies ranging from monitoring and reporting functions to predictive dialing, E911 and IP video, as well as call recording for small businesses. The companies include: 911 ETC, Communication Resources, Inc. (CRI), Conveyant Systems, DATEL Software Solutions, Integrated Research (News - Alert), NMS Adaptive, VBrick Systems and Xima Software.

"VBrick is excited to have been chosen as one of the flagship members of Avaya's Select Product Program,” Doug Howard, CEO of VBrick (News - Alert) Systems, said in a statement. “Customers are asking for video streaming solutions that include a breadth of functionality, spanning video capture, video content management, distribution and display.”

“Now, by leveraging DevConnect's Select Product Program, Avaya customers can more effectively use video to stream live executive broadcasts to thousands of sites, extend video conferences to thousands of viewers and record and store all types of events for on-demand access,” he added. “Best of all, we make it easy to access these videos from almost any popular device, from TVs to tablets and smartphones."

Initially, the Avaya DevConnect Select Product Program is being introduced in the U.S. only, but it is expected to expand globally throughout the remainder of the year.

Avaya DevConnect, a global program spanning technology companies in over 145 countries, is designed to bolster the development, marketing and enablement of third-party products that extend the value of a customer's investment in its Avaya communication, collaboration, contact center or networking portfolios.
