Verizon Offers Colorful Valentine's Day Treats for Smartphone Lovers

By Jacqueline Lee, Contributing Writer

For people who want to go beyond flowers and chocolates this Valentine’s Day, Verizon (News - Alert) has released phones, cases and even a Bluetooth speaker in purple, red and white. Customers can choose colorful DROID RAZR phones, purple HTC Rhyme phones, the red Jawbone JAMBOX Bluetooth speaker or a wide variety of colorful phone cases.

The DROID RAZR comes in purple, white or black. Verizon points out that the phone will let people video chat or send romantic emails to the people that they love. The first DROID RAZR that customers purchase retails for $199.99 with a two-year customer agreement. For a limited time, buyers can get a second RAZR phone of equal or lesser value for free.

Verizon is offering the plum-colored HTC Rhyme for free to new customers or to customers adding a second line who sign a two-year agreement. The HTC (News - Alert) Rhyme comes with tangle-free headphones, a notification charm and its own docking station. Another product, the red JAMBOX Bluetooth speaker, which is primed to play any Valentine’s favorite love songs with remote song selection and volume control, is on sale for $149.99.

Those looking to purchase the DROID RAZR or HTC Rhyme phone will have to sign up for Verizon’s Wireless Nationwide Talk plan, which begins at $39.99 monthly, as well as for a data plan for at least 2 GB starting at $30 monthly.

Verizon is also advertising some fun apps for lovers to download. The Valentine Scanner allows users to scan their fingertips to uncover their level of chemistry with their date. An app called Romantic Ideas generates a string of suggestions to get love flowing, while the OpenTable app provides restaurant reservation availability so that lovers can have the perfect dinner for two.

But not everyone has a Valentine to celebrate with tomorrow, and Verizon suggests colorful phone cases to those celebrating what the company calls “Singles Appreciation Day.” The company also encourages singles to take advantage of their Valentine’s Day deals.
