Verizon Wireless Offers Application Bundles
Verizon (News
- Alert) Wireless has been promoting some of their most popular apps by offering them in a bundle for customers. For a limited time, customers who sign up for the Smartphone App Pack will be able to subscribe to Mobile Premium, Verizon Video, VZ Navigator, Visual Voicemail, Usage Controls, and Ringback Tones for about $12.99 per month. If customers already have one of the applications, Verizon is offering to complete the bundle with any missing apps for little to no additional cost.
Kristi Crum, Verizon Wireless’ (News - Alert) executive director of Consumer Solutions said the company believes simplicity is the key to success. “We want consumers to find value in the network and we need services to do that,” said Crum.
Some of the more popular apps include VZ Navigator, which is your smartphone’s own personal GPS system. This application enables users to enter in a location and get voice-guided directions whether in a car or on foot.
Another application, called Visual Voicemail, lets users view caller and voicemail information without having to dial up their voicemail and listen to each individual message. This application lets you choose which messages you listen to first and with a click of a button you can delete or save the message.
One of the most requested applications is called Usage Controls. This gives parents and users the ability to manage and control just how their phones are used. The new service allows customers to set limitations on how many minutes, text messages, video messaging, and picture messaging are used. It also allows the user to create time restrictions on the phone’s data content and block any unwelcomed callers. The new plan is being offered on its own for $4.99 a month.
Verizon Wireless has set-up videos on their website explaining to customers the full benefits of using the applications and the importance of at least adding Usage Controls to their data plans. The company said that everything could be setup either over the phone or through their online portal called, My Verizon.
Crum added that due to the success of the packaged applications, the company plans on adding more bundles in the future. Most recently, the company added an application that allowed users to follow their favorite teams all season and stream the Super Bowl live from their phones. Verizon Wireless has an exclusive agreement with the NFL until 2014.
