Sticking to its schedule, this week technology giant Apple is previewing the updated Mac OS X 10.7 operating system called Lion. Available for download from the Mac App Store at an affordable rate of $29.99, the latest Mac OS offers more than 250 new features.

According to Apple (News - Alert), with the new additions, the company has challenged the accepted ways of doing things like clicking, scrolling, installing, and saving. The new features change the way you use a computer.

Some of the new features include Multi-touch gestures, Full-screen apps, Mission control, Launchpad, Resume, Auto save and AirDrop.

While the Multi-touch gestures transform the way you interact with your Mac, making it  more intuitive and direct, Full-screen apps use every inch of Mac display, allowing multiple full-screen apps open at once along with multiple standard-size apps. Plus, it makes it easy to switch between Full-screen and desktop views. Likewise, mission control brings together full-screen apps, dashboard, exposé, and spaces in one new feature that gives you a bird’s-eye view of everything on your system. Think of it as the hub of your system, said Apple.

Similarly, Launchpad is a new, full-screen home for all the apps on the Mac. By clicking the Launchpad icon, user’s open windows fade away, replaced by a full-screen display of all apps. It permits the user to arrange apps in any way desired, grouping them together in folders or delete them from the Mac is easy, said the supplier. And, when the user  downloads an app from the Mac App Store, it automatically appears in the Launchpad, according to Apple.

Another interesting feature added is Resume, which allows apps to reopen right where you left off. So the user never has to start from scratch again. Plus, it ensures that when you install software updates, you no longer need to save your work, close your apps, and spend valuable time setting everything up again. With Resume, one can restart Mac and return to where you left, with all your apps in the exact places you left them, Apple said.

Auto save is also a new attractive feature that automatically saves your work. No more worrying about saving work with OS X 10.7. And there is also AirDrop that makes it easy to share files wirelessly with other AirDrop users within 30 feet of your Mac.

In short, the updated OS X Lion server comes with many improvements that makes it easy to control your Mac server. Also, according to Apple, the setup assistant that comes  with this version makes it easier to setup and configure your OS X Lion powered Mac.
