Digium Launches Switchvox 5.0 with Fixed Mobile Convergence Integration

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Web Editor

Digium (News - Alert), the Asterisk Company well known for its unified communication solutions including Asterisk software, business phone systems and additional custom telephony products, has recently made an upgrade to one of its most successful solutions.

Switchvox 5.0, the fifth version of Digium’s Switchvox (News - Alert) offering, now includes fixed mobile convergence (FMC) additives as well as integration with third-party business applications. The full-featured VoIP and unified communication (UC) solution, was designed for small- to mid-sized (SMB) businesses and enhances the company’s current Switchvox mobility to allow users to seamlessly integrate any type of phone with Switchvox.

Digium is often recognized for its association with Asterisk, one of the most widely adopted open source communication engines. The latest version of Switchvox is based on Asterisk (News - Alert) and includes an all new feature set that is specifically customized for IT administrators, users and resellers.

“Mobile and remote workers need to be just as productive outside the office as they are inside, seamlessly moving between the two,” said Tristan Barnum, product line director for Switchvox at Digium, in a release announcing Switchvox 5.0. “Combined with a refreshed user interface that makes management simpler and faster, Switchvox also has a more powerful FMC solution, unlike any on the market. With other UC offerings, this functionality is treated as an add-on, requiring expensive licensing, special hardware and hours of training.”

Switchvox 5.0 includes fixed mobile convergence features for seamless transfers and recording from any phone, detailed call queue reports and logs, new application programming interfaces and an advanced graphical user interface upgrade.

Version 5.0 allows businesses to leverage their other IT investments, such as CRM, customer support, accounting and ERP systems using Switchvox’s APIs for greater customization and integration with third-party business applications. Its enhanced user interface provides more detailed reporting for calls and call queues, and detailed online support.

With the latest version of Switchvox, users can now select up to six VoIP, smartphone, soft phone, digital or analog systems to use with their Switchvox extension. Users can now route, record or transfer calls appropriately, at any location, saving an average of 60-80 percent compared to other VoIP business phone systems.

Switchvox 5.0 is now available through Digium and its directly resellers. Current Switchvox customers can access version 5.0 at no additional charge.  For more information on the latest version, visit the company’s website.
