AT&T Brings New Features to Managed Telepresence Solution

Adding encryption and other upgrades, AT&T has enhanced its offer for Cisco’s Telepresence (News - Alert) service. The company claims this solution will help the users to conduct meetings that are encrypted for business and security reasons.

With this new solution, companies can now get collaboration tools that improve productivity and help reduce costs such as business travel. AT&T (News - Alert) now provides encryption between Cisco TelePresence endpoints in point-to-point or multi-point business to business meetings. With the help of the intercompany-enabled Cisco (News - Alert) TelePresence endpoints deployed worldwide, user of the AT&T Business Exchange could establish encrypted connections.

AT&T has collaborated with Cisco since 2008 and has facilitated the growth and use of Cisco TelePresence technology and services among businesses and organizations. The new features in the AT&T TelePresence solutions include improved conference controls, lotus notes domino support, and high resolution video sharing.

“We’re focused on continuing to expand and innovate on the capabilities that AT&T Telepresence Solution provides to companies throughout the world,” said Bill Archer, chief marketing officer, AT&T Business Solutions. “These latest enhancements reflect our commitment to provide an industry-leading, fully-managed Cisco TelePresence solution that offers companies the ability to interact with their key business partners in a highly-secure environment.”

With the power of Cisco TelePresence, making calls in AT&T Telepresence Solution is now as easy as making a phone call. The solution also provides a “meet me” feature with a highly-secure PIN code that simplifies intercompany calling. The AT&T Telepresence Solution provides AT&T or customer supplied Cisco TelePresence equipment, and includes installation, full monitoring and management of the application.

The company recently set a target of achieving 100 percent broadband penetration in the United States within the next five years, i.e. by 2014, as part of the official commencement of a National Broadband Plan. The carrier says this goal will pave the way for vital social milestones like energy self-dependence and improved health care systems. Nearly 8 percent of U.S. homes are yet to be connected to any land-based broadband service.
