Juniper Networks Intros Multi-service Network Infrastructure for Distributed Enterprise
By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Juniper Networks, a provider of high-performance networking solutions, announced its next generation network infrastructure for the distributed enterprise, which includes advancements to the SRX Series Services Gateways and a new line of EX Series Ethernet Switches.
Company officials claim that the new SRX240 “can deliver up to five times the security performance for half the cost of competitive alternatives and the new EX Series delivers enterprise-class gigabit access connectivity at a lower list price than equivalent devices.”
As legacy networks expand or change, the use of single-purpose appliances grows, increasing the number of operating systems, network layers and management applications. This situation results in infrastructural complexity and increased costs.
Juniper Networks’ (News - Alert) Distributed Enterprise Solutions provide organizations with the consistency of a single source network operating system, along with centralized management and integrated security. With this multi-service network infrastructure solution, enterprise IT experts can extend a high performance headquarters-like experience to employees at sites of any size.
Juniper’s Distributed Enterprise Solutions work collaboratively with Juniper’s Adaptive Threat Management Solutions. Back in March, Juniper Networks announced their Adaptive Threat Management office, which the company describes as an ‘open solution for real-time threat defense,’ TMCnet reported. The solutions are based on an open security infrastructure and a ‘pay-as-you-grow’ deployment model that can simultaneously reduce risk, lower total cost of ownership and increase productivity
The four new additions to the SRX Series family support a complete suite of unified threat management and intrusion prevention capabilities to protect the network from the latest content borne threats. They include hardware based Content Security Acceleration for high-performance inline anti-virus and intrusion prevention services (IPS) as well as Power over Ethernet (PoE) and standards-based SIP voice gateway capability.
All four SRX models are provided with integrated security, high availability and routing along with support for 3G wireless.
The new EX2200 line of Ethernet feature JUNOS Software-based Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching capabilities and satisfy the access connectivity requirements of today’s high-performance businesses, officials said.
EXPRESS, a fashion retailer with more than 550 stores across the United States is one of Juniper’s customers.
“We believe that the Juniper Networks Distributed Enterprise Solutions and JUNOS provide us the consistency in modularity and life-cycle management across our portfolio, and it gives us the scalability, flexibility and efficiency we require to support our strategic goals and objectives,” said Steven Graves, director, IT Technical Services, EXPRESS, in a statement.
