- IPeria, Inc., a provider of next generation,
IP-based, enhanced services platforms and applications for service providers, announced
that it has expanded operations and relocated its corporate headquarters to 77 South
Bedford Street in Burlington, Massachusetts. IPeria also announced Christopher
Berluti has joined IPeria as director of business development and Darrell
Crow as director of product management.
- RightPoint Inc., a provider of real-time
e-marketing solutions, announced the appointment of Al Castino as chief
financial officer. Castino will play a major role in leading RightPoint to its initial
public offering and will work closely with president and CEO Gayle Crowell to support the
company's ongoing evolution and growth.
RightPoint also announced the hiring of Lin Johnstone as a managing
director and vice president for Europe.
- PictureTel Corporation, a leader in visual
collaboration, announced that the company's board of directors has named Dr.
Norman E. Gaut chairman, chief executive officer and president, effective
September 1, 1999. He succeeds Bruce R. Bond, who has resigned from the company and the
board. Gaut, a member of PictureTel's board since the company's inception in 1984, was
chairman and CEO of PictureTel for more than 10 years, until his retirement in June 1998.
- ThinkLink, a Web-based integrated messaging
service, announced that Gene Russell, former senior vice president of
sales and marketing of Smartalk Teleservices and president and CEO of SOS Wireless
Communications, has joined the company as vice president of sales.
- Sonus Networks, an emerging leader in
carrier-class packet telephony solutions, announced that the company has named industry
veteran Stephen J. Nill as its vice president, finance and
administration, and chief financial officer. In this role, Nill will direct the financial
and administrative functions of the company and build a corporate infrastructure to
support rapid growth.
- Mockingbird Networks, the pioneering
developer of distributed carrier-class IP telephony switches, announced the appointment of
Mark Fogarsi to the position of vice president of systems engineering.
Fogarsi brings over 18 years of telecommunications field and management experience in
product sales support and technical services.
- NEXTLINK Communications, Inc., a provider of
broadband communications services, announced that the board of directors has named Daniel
F. Akerson chairman and CEO.
- Cabletron Systems announced the appointment of John
Roese as chief technology officer (CTO). Roese has been with Cabletron Systems
since 1991, and moves to the role of CTO from his current position as senior director of
systems engineering and chair of the Cabletron Systems technology council.
- Aditi Corporation announced that its eService
Division is adopting its well-known Talisma product name as its new
corporate identity, to communicate its increased emphasis on the electronic customer
service (eService) market. The companys Professional Services, Service Support and
Product Business Units will now operate under the Talisma Corporation name.
- Unisphere Solutions Inc., a U.S.-based
Siemens start-up company formed to deliver end-to-end, next-generation voice and data
communications solutions to service providers, announced its executive management team.
Heading up the new company as president and CEO is Martin C. Clague, a
veteran industry professional who has two decades of experience in technology management.
- FirstTel Systems, a pioneer in providing solutions
that allow carriers to rapidly provision, bundle and manage multimedia services, announced
that it has changed its name to Ceon Corporation.
- Mitel Corporation is pleased to announce the
appointment of Dr. Semir D. Sirazi to its board of directors. Sirazi is a
management consultant and individual investor. He serves as an advisor to a number of
early-stage technology companies.
- Hypercom Corporation, a global provider of
electronic payment solutions, has named Jeremy Su president, Hypercom
Asia-Pacific. Immediately prior to joining Hypercom, Su was president, Bull Information
Systems Ltd. of Greater China. In his new position, Mr. Su will be directly responsible
for expanding Hypercom's leadership position in all Asia-Pacific region countries with the
exception of Japan and Australia.
- Witness Systems announced that Russell Brown,
formerly of PeopleSoft, has joined the organization as vice president of business
development. In this role, he will be instrumental in cultivating technology alliances
while focusing on new opportunities to join forces with other forward-thinking
organizations to provide Witness Systems' customers with tight integration and cross
functional solutions.
