- Wildfire Communications, Inc. announced the
appointment by the Board of Directors of Don Sullivan as chief financial
officer. Prior to his appointment as CFO, Sullivan served as vice president, finance and
administration, at Wildfire for two years. In his new position, Sullivan will oversee the
financial and investor relations aspects of the company's business.
- Packeteer, a leading provider of
bandwidth-management and quality of service solutions for the Internet and corporate
enterprise networks, has named James M. Baker to the newly created
position of vice president of sales for the Americas (North, South and Central America).
Baker reports to Neil Sundstrom, Packeteer's vice president of worldwide sales.
- WorldPort Communications, Inc. announced that it has
named Carl J. Grivner as its new president and chief executive officer.
In addition, Grivner will serve on WorldPort's board of directors. WorldPort
Communications provides voice, Internet and data services to Internet Service Providers
(ISPs), carriers and multinational companies in Europe and North America.
- PointOne Telecommunications added a new member to
its board by appointing Mory Ejabat, the chief executive officer of
Ascend Communications Inc. The move is a sign of Ascend's continued interest in the
company which has already involved financial investments of both capital and equipment to
build out the company's managed bandwidth Internet Protocol (IP)-based network. PointOne
is currently building a worldwide next-generation network that carries voice, video and
data traffic over IP with guaranteed levels of service.
- NewPort Communications, a developer of
high-speed communications chips for the wide area networking (WAN) industry, announced
that Dr. Ron Das of Cirrus Logic and Joseph Vithayathil
of TranSwitch Corporation have joined the company as vice president of operations and vice
president of marketing and sales, respectively.
- Cabletron Systems heightened its focus on
evolving SPECTRUM into a stand-alone business entity that is poised for continued
expansion. The stand-alone business will focus on opportunities in the strategic network
management arena that are being driven by rowth in the Internet, e-commerce and
telecommunications markets. In conjunction with this announcement, Cabletron named Michael
Skubisz to lead the business as executive vice president of software. A ten-year
industry veteran, Skubisz has held a number of senior management positions at Cabletron,
including his most recent role as chief technology officer.
- Paging Network, Inc. announced a realignment of its
executive management team and the creation of a new operating subsidiary, VAST Wireless
Solutions, Inc., to focus on the emerging market for wireless information services.
Edward W. Mullinix, Jr., formerly executive vice president of operations,
has been named PageNet's president and chief operating officer. Mark A. Knickrehm,
formerly PageNet's executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been named
president and chief operating officer of VAST Wireless Solutions.
Lynn A. Bace, formerly executive vice president of sales and marketing,
has been named PageNet's executive vice president and chief administrative officer,
responsible for corporate and staff functions as well as corporate marketing. Julian
B. Castelli, formerly vice president of finance, has been named senior vice
president and chief financial officer of PageNet.
Mullinix, Knickrehm, Bace and Castelli will report to John P. Frazee, Jr.,
chairman and chief executive officer of Paging Network, Inc.
- Williams Communications Solutions, a provider of
integrated enterprise network solutions to businesses throughout North America and a
business unit of Williams Communications, part of Williams, has named Dan Miller
vice president of finance and administration, and chief financial officer.
