- Cleartel Communications, a long distance and operator services company, appointed Stephen
R. Roberts as president. Judy Cronin was also appointed as vice
president of sales.
Cleartel also announced the appointments of Chris Murphy
to director of Operator Services Sales, and Terri Peck to director of
finance and administration.
- Arbinet Communications announced that Rachelle
Rees McCarthy, a 14-year veteran of AT&T, has joined the company as chief
operating officer. McCarthy will manage the daily operations of the company to ensure the
continued market leadership of the Arbinet Global Clearing Network (AGCN), which helped
propel the company to record growth and revenues last year.
- Edward T. Kennedy recently joined Cosmobridge
Alliance Group, a San Jose, CA-based Internet telephony hardware, software, and
service provider, as vice president of worldwide marketing and business development.
Kennedy was formerly president of Entree.net, a consulting firm that advises Internet,
software and telecommunications companies worldwide.
- RSL Communications, Ltd. announced the appointment
of Mark Hirschhorn as chief financial officer of Delta Three, Inc., the
company's Internet telephony subsidiary.
RSL also announced that Jim Magrone has been appointed to the position of
vice president, investor relations and treasury of RSL Communications.
- Sun Microsystems, Inc. and America
Online, Inc. announced that Sun executive Mark Tolliver will serve as
president and general manager of their strategic alliance to provide easy-to-deploy,
end-to-end enterprise and e-commerce solutions to business partners and other companies.
In
addition, Barry Ariko, AOL's new senior vice president, Netscape
Enterprise Group, and formerly Netscape's executive vice president and chief operating
officer, will also hold the title of executive vice president and deputy general manager
of the strategic alliance.
Steve Savignano, AOL's new senior vice president, Netscape Enterprise
Group, and formerly Netscape's senior vice president and general manager for its
E-commerce Applications Products division, and Stuart Wells, Sun's vice
president for its Network Software Group, were also given the titles of senior vice
presidents of the strategic alliance.
- Molloy Group, Inc., a developer and marketer of
knowledge management software for customer service call centers and help desk operations,
has appointed Richard K. Freed as vice president of enterprise services.
In this role, Freed manages the Professional Services and Customer Support operations of
Molloy Group.
- NETRIX Corporation, a supplier of voice and data
networking products, announced the appointment of Steven T. Francesco as
chairman of its board of directors.
Additionally, John Faccibene, managing director, Americas, at iXnet was
named a director. These appointments are the result of NETRIX's initiative to expand board
membership to include senior executives who have significant telecommunications and
investor community experience and contacts.
- TotalTel Communications USA, Inc.made a strategic move into new service markets with the
hiring of Dennis J. Spina as president. Spina will lead the company into
the Internet and local telephone service markets. He joins TotalTel from RCN, a regional
facility-based provider of voice, video, and data services, which last year acquired Erols
Internet, Inc. where Spina was chairman and chief executive officer. Following the
acquisition, Spina was named vice chairman and president of Internet services for RCN.
- Mustang Software, Inc. announced that former NASD
chairman Phillip E. Pearce and industry executives Michael D.
Greenbaum and Anthony P. Mazzarella have joined its board of
directors. These individuals will serve as outside directors of Mustang along with Stanley
A. Hirschman and Michael S. Noling, who have served as members
of Mustang's board of directors since 1995. James A. Harrer, Mustang's
president and chief executive officer will complete Mustang's board of directors.
Hirschman will assume additional duties as chairman of the board.
