- Managing director of Telstra Payphone and Card
Services, John Stanton, has been elected to the board of the Global
Chipcard Alliance (GCA), an international organisation which is developing global
standards for smart card technology. Telstra is a principal member of the GCA.
- V-SPAN, a privately-held videoconferencing network
service provider, has opened a San Francisco, California office. The additional expansion
will enable V-SPAN to further serve the West Coast market.
- Bluestone Software, Inc., a leader in enterprise
interaction management with its Sapphire/Web Application Server Framework, announced the
appointment of P. Kevin Kilroy as president of the company. Kilroy
succeeds founder, Mel Baiada, who will continue as chairman of the board. Kilroy most
recently served as senior vice president of sales for Bluestone.
- NetSpeak Corporation announced that Lane
M. Bess has joined the company as senior vice president of sales. Previously
director of product marketing at AT&T WorldNet Service, Bess will direct the sales and
channel strategy for NetSpeak.Bess brings a 15-year background in business
development, channel strategy and sales management to NetSpeak with extensive experience
in emerging technologies.
- Contigo Software, developers of the award-winning
Internet Conferencing System for marketing and training applications, announced the
appointment of Dennis Morin to its Board of Directors. This appointment
was made in response to the company's accelerated growth and its ongoing strategy to
strengthen both its presence in the financial community and its leadership position within
the Web-based presentation and conferencing market.
- Portal Software, Inc., a leading provider of
software for Internet and next-generation communications services, announced the
appointment of Jack Acosta as chief financial officer and vice president
of finance, effective February 1, 1999. In his new position, Acosta will assume global
responsibility for all financial planning, reporting, analysis, investor relations, and
oversee all financial systems, facilities and legal operations.
- IMA, a global provider of enterprise-wide customer
interaction software used for sales, marketing and customer service, announced expansion
of its sales operations into Canada, directly offering its products for comprehensive
relationship management through the customer interaction center. Eric Montgomery,
vice president of North American sales, will assume the additional responsibility for
IMA's new direct sales operations in Canada.
The company also announced several sales executive appointments: Jim Anderson
has been named senior vice president of worldwide sales; Rich Morrison
has been appointed vice president of international operations; and Barbara Lanci has
been named to the newly created position of vice president of channel sales, where she
will be responsible for developing indirect sales channels for IMA through partnerships
with resellers.
- MUSIC Telecom, Inc., a division of MUSIC
Corporation, promoted two prominent executives. Moshe Tal, formerly
managing director, has been promoted to the new position of executive vice president and
general manager and is responsible for worldwide operations. John P. Alexander
recently joined MUSIC Telecom last November as the director of business development. He
has since been advanced to the director of sales and marketing, responsible for worldwide
sales, marketing and support.
