- Tellabs has appointed David Powell
as the new head of its Network Enhancing Technologies Solutions (N.E.T.S.) Division.
Powell will serve as vice president and general manager of N.E.T.S., developing
voice-enhancement and echo-cancellation solutions for telecommunications networks
worldwide.
The company also welcomes Stephen M. McCarthy as its new vice president
of Global Solutions and Service. McCarthy will have global responsibility for customer
services -- including order processing, installation and technical support -- and for the
solutions initiative.
- In the new position of managing director, Latin America, Juan Bergelund
joins VIP Calling with over 15 years experience in
the telecommunication and information management industries. Previously, Bergelund was the
chief operating officer for IPTEL-Americas Exchange, Inc., in Dallas, Texas, a Latin
American IP telephony service provider.
- WebLine Communications announced that Robert Weinberger has joined the
company as vice president of marketing. Weinberger brings more than 22 years of experience
in the computer software and systems industry to WebLine. Previously, he was vice
president of marketing for Open Market, Inc., where he helped establish the company as the
leading provider of Internet commerce software and played an instrumental role in Open
Markets highly successful IPO in 1996.
- N-Soft, a European supplier of computer telephony solutions, announced the appointment
of Robert F. Manning as vice president of marketing and sales for N-Soft
of North America. Manning will be responsible for developing and implementing sales,
marketing, and support strategies for the recently created North American subsidiary.
- Brite Voice Systems, Inc. appointed J.
Darrell Kelley to its Board of Directors. Kelley, currently president and CEO of
the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida, Inc. brings to Brite nearly 40 years
of experience in the telecommunications industry, most recently serving as president of
Sprint's Southern Operations.
- NetSpeak Corporation announced that Neville
O'Reilly has joined the company as vice president of Strategy and Business
Planning. Previously director of Strategy and Web Site Service Operations at AT&T
Network Commerce Services, O'Reilly will direct strategic market and product planning for
NetSpeak.
- AT&T announced the election of Daniel H.
Schulman, as executive vice president of the company and president, long distance
and segment marketing in AT&T's consumer services unit. Schulman will also become a
member of the company's most senior executive body, the AT&T Operations Group, and
will lead AT&T's core consumer long distance business.
- Clarent Corp. announced the appointment of Dr.
Peter Bohacek as vice president of business development. Bohacek brings over 30
years of leadership in the telecommunications industry. His previous executive positions
include vice president and general manager for the client/server telecommunications
division of Mitel Corp., and vice president of business development for telecommunications
at Tandem Computers, among others.
- XACCT Technologies, Inc. announced that
telecommunications veteran Robert C. Hawk has joined the company as a
member of the Board of Directors. Hawk's addition to the board will help the company forge
strategic partnerships and alliances with network service providers (NSPs) and carriers to
further enhance its leadership position in the emerging IP mediation market.
- TellSoft Technologies, Inc. announces the addition of Bill
Tomeo as chief executive officer and president. Most recently a senior vice
president at Hewlett-Packard, Tomeo was responsible for field sales and support
organizations worldwide and the development of integrated marketing strategies for
communications products and services.
- Davox Corporation has named Thomas E.
Grosskopf to the position of regional sales vice president. In his new position,
Mr. Grosskopf will oversee all direct Davox sales activities in the western region of the
United States.
- I-Link Inc., an enhanced voice and data
communications company, today announced the election of David Bradford,
senior vice president and general counsel for Novell Inc., to I-Link's Board of Directors.
- Kenneth Witt of Data Race, Inc.
was recently promoted to vice president, marketing from director, marketing.
- Magellan Network Systems, developer of enhanced
services platforms and billing systems for telecommunications companies, named
Jeffrey Paine vice president of marketing. He reports to Robert Marangell,
Magellan president and CEO, in the newly created position.
