Tundo's IP Telephony-Based Boundless PBX Solution Protects
Investments In Legacy PBXs
Tundo Corporation, a Cambridge, MA-based provider of
open network telephony systems, announced the availability of its Boundless PBX solution.
Based on Tundo's award winning Network Telephony System (NTS), the Boundless PBX
technology integrates the customer's existing legacy investments with an IP-based system
to provide a clear, cost-effective migration path from traditional circuit switched
networks to reliable, scalable packet-based telephony. This solution will enable customers
to utilize the features and functionality of the PBX, while enjoying the cost and business
benefits of the IP network.
As part of a phased evaluation, Sybase Inc. has
implemented Tundo's Boundless PBX solution in four locations in the United States, United
Kingdom and the Netherlands, providing employees with access to a single VoIP
infrastructure for voice and data. The system has been implemented as an extension to
Sybase's legacy circuit switched PBX's, and can scale to incorporate new sites simply by
connecting additional IP extensions over the WAN. This creates a number of cost-saving
benefits for installation, service and support by delivering telephony service on a
network wide basis. In addition, Sybase is achieving significant savings in long distance
costs by carrying voice traffic on their existing data network.
"We are evaluating a number of IP telephony products and are impressed by Tundo's
Boundless PBX solution which provides a high degree of integration with our legacy voice
systems. The Tundo design delivers the mission critical reliability and scalability
necessary for Sybase to implement a VoIP solution in a LAN/WAN environment." said
Mike Baxendale, Sybase's European IT Infrastructure Manager. "We have been pleasantly
surprised with the ease of system implementation, having self installed our second site in
the Netherlands. This flexibility and control would not have been possible had we taken
the traditional approach and contracted for the supply of a standalone system for this new
site."
"The implementation with Sybase is a clear indication that Tundo's Network
Telephony System has the flexibility and reliability to supply truly integrated voice and
data solutions for large scale enterprise deployments. The Boundless PBX solution builds
on this platform, providing our customers with a highly scalable and manageable VoIP
solution that can be distributed over multiple locations, while still being managed as a
single entity," said Tundo's CEO and co-founder, Eitan Bauch. "This
implementation also highlights Tundo's ability to deliver the industry's most innovative
VoIP solutions, helping enterprise customers migrate to new packet-based networks while
leveraging their legacy investments in training and infrastructure."
The Tundo design utilizes open standards such as H.323, H.450, MGCP, CSTA, and SNMP to
support components from multiple vendors, system inter-working and applications
integration. This gives customers and developers new levels of flexibility in creating
solutions that can build on customer's existing legacy telecom infrastructure and IP
networks to lower operating costs and increase functionality.
The Tundo Network Telephony System (NTS) is a complete system solution, based upon the
company's Distributed Open Telephony - Operating System (DOT-OS) , a patented software
platform and development environment utilizing distributed servers and based on Windows NT
technology. Tundo's NTS also provides products and tools that connect standard telephones
and agent headsets to the IP network, as well as Java PC-based 'smart' phone applications.
