ADTRAN's New Express Products Combine Data And Voice Over
Frame Relay Or ISDN With Optional Disaster Recovery
ADTRAN, Inc. introduced its new Express 5210 Frame
Relay access device and Express 4110 ISDN router. Both products add new functionality to
ADTRAN's comprehensive Express series -- a family of remote site termination products for
dedicated, switched, and packet-based network services.
The Express 5210, a member of the Express 5200 series, supports voice, data, and
disaster recovery on Frame Relay networks. By using the 5210, network managers can
consolidate voice onto already subscribed Frame Relay data circuits, eliminating
unnecessary voice circuits. When desirable, network managers can implement disaster
recovery over ISDN, V.34 or Switched 56 networks using an easy-to-install expansion card.
The 5210 also includes a LAN interface, eliminating the need for an external router.
The Express 4110, a member of the 4100(TM) series, is a low-cost ISDN router designed
for SOHO applications requiring Internet access. The Express 4110 simultaneously
translates multiple LAN addresses into a single dynamic IP address using Network Address
Translation (NAT). The network manager saves money by supporting multiple Internet users
on a single IP address.
"These new Express products, when paired with our ATLAS host site product, offer
customers a single vendor solution to all their network access needs, " comments
Danny Windham, vice president of CPE marketing. "ADTRAN is one of the few vendors
that provides a truly complete wide area access solution for Frame Relay and ISDN,
including disaster recovery. Our goal is to make access over any wide-area network
alternative as painless and hassle-free as possible for each customer."
ADTRAN recently regrouped its full line of packet-based and switched termination
products into three Express product series -- Express 3000 ISDN modems, Express 4000 ISDN
routers, and Express 5000 Frame Relay access devices for data and voice. Future products
developed for Frame Relay and ISDN access will be positioned in these families. ADTRAN
also offers the IQ family, a full line of intelligent remote site devices for Frame Relay
performance monitoring.
The Express 5210 lists for $1,295 and will be available in March 1999. The Express 4110
lists for $595 and will be available in February 1999.
