AVT Debuts Its CallXpress Enterprise Unified Messaging
Solution
AVT Corporation, a provider of enterprise-based
computer telephony solutions, announced the availability of CallXpress Enterprise. Based
on over three years of development, CallXpress Enterprise extends the CallXpress family by
delivering a high-capacity, fault-tolerant unified messaging system designed specifically
for the large multi-site enterprise.
"The release of CallXpress Enterprise represents AVT's commitment to developing
and delivering innovative and leading edge communications solutions for today's global
corporate enterprises," said Joseph Staples, AVT Senior Vice President of Worldwide
Marketing. "Being a highly scalable product, built on proven NT-based technology that
integrates with existing PBX, LAN, and groupware environments, CallXpress Enterprise
allows today's large scale corporations to deploy proven AVT solutions across their entire
environment."
CallXpress Enterprise supports up to 128 ports on a single Windows NT server. This
capacity allows support for up to 10,000 users. Additional AVT systems can be added in a
digital IP-based network environment to provide integration of campuses or branch
offices-creating a complete solution not only for the large corporate campus, but for the
entire global enterprise. CallXpress Enterprise also delivers horizontal scalability by
integrating other key AVT NT services such as network fax and interactive voice response
(IVR).
The administrative capabilities of CallXpress Enterprise are designed for large
multi-site companies. The mailbox import feature allows administrators to quickly add,
change, or delete one or more subscriber mailboxes using a single text file. This allows
administrators to edit these mailboxes without having to type this information for each
subscriber in the Subscriber Mailbox dialog box. The Mailboxes dialog box has also been
enhanced to make searching and mailbox range copying and editing easier. A new class of
service tool also allows administrators to create ranges of mailboxes based on the
properties of existing template mailboxes.
From a telephone, a desktop computer, or a web browser, users can access all three
message types-voice, fax, and email. Through Microsoft Outlook/Exchange or Lotus Notes
users can view their voice and fax messages, along with any email messages-providing true
unified messaging. In addition, CallXpress Enterprise offers support for all major brands
of PBX telephone systems including those from NEC, Nortel, Ericsson, Lucent, Siemens,
Fujitsu, and Mitel.
Critical to a true unified messaging solution is the development and ownership of an
integrated enterprise fax solution. CallXpress Enterprise incorporates the company's
award-winning fax server technology -- RightFAX. Developed by AVT, RightFAX is
enterprise-capable and includes functionality for distributed fax processing and load
balancing across multiple servers, centralized administration for all RightFAX servers on
the network, and the ability to establish rules-based least cost routing using the
Internet or other wide area networking transports.
Using the Internet or the corporate Intranet, CallXpress Enterprise supports true
digital networking of all voice and fax messages. Compliant with the industry-standard
networking protocol VPIM (Voice Profile for Internet Mail), CallXpress Enterprise provides
users with a transparent method of exchanging messages throughout the enterprise at a
reduced cost of deployment. In addition, digital networking provides greater functionality
as compared to analog networking alternatives.
Taking full advantage of fault tolerant technology, CallXpress Enterprise integrates
with hardware that offers fail-over safe redundancy including redundant components and
disk mirroring.
CallXpress Enterprise will be generally available within 45 days and will be offered
through AVT's direct enterprise accounts sales group, its strategic partners, and through
the company's dealer channel. Pricing ranges between $35,000-$250,000 depending on
configuration.
