This year’s Mobile World Congress included a broad range of location-focused applications on display via a variety of customer demos, coupled with interactive demonstrations of unique advancements in visual content; innovative technologies that advance map data collection and content development efforts and lastly, tools and support aimed at helping developers launch new products.
Advanced content and services, location-based solutions and navigation is said to integrate easily with NAVTEQ's (News
) advanced visual content portfolio to create a heightened user experience. One of the newly launched products, the enhanced 3D City Models in Europe, developed from NAVTEQ map, is extremely flexible, capable of enabling navigable 3D animation to be generated in real-time.
Focus is also going to be on the Pedestrian Navigation. The latest here is that it can be experienced via an interactive demo that combines NAVTEQ Discover Cities as well as NAVTEQ's visual content to improve pedestrian guidance through better orientation.
Unique customer demonstrations from NavNGo, Novasys, Nokia (News
) and UbiEst are believed to add to the experience.
NAVTEQ believes that its LocationPoint Advertising will allow retailers to deliver highly-targeted, relevant and actionable advertising to end users and allow customers to explore potential revenue-share opportunities. The solution enables the ultimate location-aware experience, NAVTEQ official said.
In addition, the latest Navigation Applications will also be on display to experience and enjoy with iPhone
digital mobile device application demonstrations from Navigon, Destinator, Appello and Dual.
Also, NAVTEQ's enabling technologies is said to offer a glimpse into how NAVTEQ obtains the highest quality levels in data collection, as well as the future of location-based innovation. The focus here will be on NAVTEQ True - revolutionary new data collection technology; NAVTEQ Traffic, which is a comprehensive, quality-tested traffic service enabling reliable routing and an accurate picture of real-world traffic conditions;
NAVTEQ Connect – demonstration will include the impact of navigation and location based solutions on everyday life. Exhibiting companies as stated include: Appello, Fanshake, La Mosca, Magneti Marelli, NAVIGON, NavNGo, Nokia, ROUTE 66, Visioglobe (News

Additionally, attention will be on developer tools and support, where NAVTEQ Network for Developers demonstration includes the latest developments in mapping tools and application programming interfaces for mobile app development.
The NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge Awards Ceremony will focus on the winner vying for a record global prize pool valued at over $10 million dollars and data license in addition to an opportunity for worldwide exposure for their LBS application.
This is said to be the premier event for wireless Location Based Services innovation, and has invited developers around the world to build innovative, non-commercialized LBS applications which work with mobile phones and/or wireless handheld devices using dynamic positioning technology and NAVTEQ map data.
