Alvarion to Display Enhanced 4G WiMAX Solutions and Devices at Mobile World Congress 2010


Alvarion, a provider of 4G wireless communications solutions with hundreds of commercial WiMAX (News - Alert) deployments, has reportedly announced that it will display a wide range of its 4G WiMAX end user devices, end-to-end network solutions and innovative wireless applications at the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) 2010 to be held at Barcelona, Spain, to be held Feb. 15-18.

 
The company offers solutions that enable true open 4G and vertical applications for service providers and enterprises, and more than 3.5 million of its wireless devices have already been deployed around the globe. It provides a complete portfolio of field-proven WiMAX devices, which consists of indoor and outdoor customer premises equipments, USB dongles and embedded laptops and netbooks.
 
Adopting an OPEN (News - Alert) WiMAX device strategy that aims at bringing advanced ecosystem devices to the market, the company aims to offer its branded devices as well as third party devices through its partner interoperability testing or ‘ IOT’ program. The strategy comprises of a comprehensive choice of different types of devices, IOT with multiple WiMAX chipset vendors and a streamlined device IOT program for a faster time to market. Relying upon superior technology innovations, a broad ecosystem and unparalleled deployment experience, Alvarion (News - Alert) aims at enabling its customers to adopt unique business cases.
 
Apart from introducing its solutions, Alvarion is also going to perform some other activities as well at the event, including display of over 20 end user devices that will include embedded WiMAX laptops, netbooks, a variety of USB dongles, mobile internet devices or ‘ MIDs’ , ultra mobile personal computers or ‘ UMPCs’ and Mobile Hot Spots. The company will also demonstrate state of the art WiMAX base stations connected live with several WiMAX devices, and will host daily sessions from its ecosystem partners in the booth on various topics. Some specific topics that will be covered are Taiwan WiMAX ecosystem, value added services platform, optimization of wireless networks in the age of rich video consumption, the role of automatic video production over 4G networks, VoIP and mobile services for WiMAX providers, cross network and device media delivery platform and wireless backhaul.

In November, Alvarion reportedly announced that it had been selected by the Australian ISP Adam Internet to deploy a WiMAX network across metropolitan Adelaide, Australia, as a part of Australian government’ s Broadband Guarantee Program.
