SingTel Collaborates with Ericsson to Launch Groundbreaking 4G to LTE Services

SingTel recently announced that they will work in collaboration with Ericsson to launch a range of groundbreaking 4G/LTE (News - Alert) services to set a new benchmark for mobile services. The new services include 300Mbps mobile broadband service with LTE-Advanced; improved video streaming with LTE Broadcast technology; and enhanced indoor coverage with Ericsson (News - Alert) Radio Dot System technology.

SingTel will be upgrading its Singapore 4G network to LTE-Advanced, in order to enhance the maximum data speeds of its 4G service to 300Mbps, which is double the speed currently offered. LTE-Advanced aggregates multiple mobile spectrum bands, delivers higher data speeds, greater spectral efficiency, increases system capacity, and improves network experience on the cell edge. The upgrade will provide  mobile users with better coverage and the ability to enjoy an unrivalled experience for video, music, games and other multimedia content on-the-move, web surfing and communications.

Improved video streaming with LTE Broadcast technology in densely populated areas will be enabled by integrating with Ericsson's Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) solution, resulting in efficient use of mobile frequency spectrum and network resources. Further, the solution will also enhance the video viewing experience at live events with capabilities such as access to multiple camera angles, feeds and statistics in real-time.
