InterDigital, Inc. has unveiled a M2M offering, which conforms to standards like ETSI (News - Alert), CoAP and HTTP. The latest M2M solution is also interoperable with legacy M2M service platforms, resulting in lower expenses, wider value chain, and the facilitation of rapid development. Developed in association with key standards bodies, the InterDigital (News - Alert) solution also offers simplified implementation and augmented acceptance, some of the features that exemplify the move to a standards-based offering in the majority of technology families.
In a statement, Allen Proithis, EVP, InterDigital Solutions said, “InterDigital’s solution is based on a simple perception: that the tipping point in growth of M2M and IoT will not come from increasing adoption of the expensive, proprietary solutions that are challenging to deploy. Rather, we see that explosion being fueled by an entirely standards-based approach that can engage the broader electronics supply chain, drive ease of deployment and foster collaboration between verticals that are currently siloed by proprietary approaches. Our M2M Service Delivery Platform provides operators, service providers and other wireless players with a platform for triggering that broader adoption.”
All verticals are offered a solitary service delivery solution by the M2M Service Delivery Platform, or M2MSDP, from InterDigital. The solution also offers interoperability between verticals, like healthcare and transportation, or security and asset tracking. Also, novel, value-added applications can be launched. A standard M2M/IoT middleware offering with common Application Programming Interfaces, or APIs, is delivered by the M2MSDP for scalable and horizontal M2M/IoT services. Operators can accomplish monetization using this solution, which acts as the foundation for tremendous development.
Sam Lucero, senior principal analyst, M2M & Connected Devices, HIS said, “The M2M market is growing rapidly, and the development of service layer standards will enhance this growth even further. As we discuss in our recent report, Cellular M2M Platform Software – World – 2012, service layer standards will provide several key benefits, including simplifying application development and operation, facilitating interconnectivity between third-party applications and reducing overall costs. Consequently, IHS (News - Alert) regards service layer standards to be a crucial factor in the evolution of the M2M market to the full Internet of Things.”
InterDigital will be showcasing its M2M Service Delivery Platform at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert). InterDigital will be at Hall 7, Stand 7G111.
