Radisys Corporation is all set to unveil the unique ATCA video optimization offering, developed using Intel (News - Alert) technology. With the rising development in mobile video and increase in the number of novel smartphones and tablets, the requirement for an affordable solution capable of optimizing video traffic for each device for the existing bandwidth and screen size is also on the rise. Radisys’ ATCA Video Optimization Blade can now be advantageously utilized by Telecom Equipment Manufacturers or TEMs for decreasing the expenses for each stream by one-fourth for carrier-grade video optimization.
In a statement, Keate Despain (News - Alert), Vice President and General Manager, Platforms, Radisys said, “Our new video optimization solution is another example of our continued leadership in delivering powerful ATCA solutions to TEMs, meeting their requirements for lowered costs and accelerated time-to-market. Radisys’ Video Optimization Blade provides an alternative to current market solutions that are expensive and often proprietary.”
As compared to the present offerings, the carrier-grade Video Optimization Blade, developed by Radisys in association with Intel, offers augmented transcoding densities at an affordable price. Radisys utilized six Core i7-3612QE Intel mobile processors on the ATCA blade for decreasing the expenses for each video session. The Radisys offering can deliver a maximum of 48 streams of transcoding H.264 at 1080p at 30 frames each second.
Stephen Price, General Manager, Communications Infrastructure Division, Intel said, “Solutions like Radisys’ Video Optimization Blade help to deliver critical cost savings by providing high density for transcoding per stream and dollar for media framework solutions. This Intel architecture based blade addresses TEMs mobile infrastructure cost and performance challenges and provides optimized video quality experience for the end users.”
The latest ATCA Video Optimization Blade solution will be showcased at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert), scheduled in Barcelona from February 25-28, 2013. Intel and Radisys will be at Stand 3C34, Hall 3 and Stand 5G34, Hall 5 respectively.
Radisys is a major organization providing wireless infrastructure offerings for telecom, aerospace and defense applications. Customers are able to introduce high-value products and services to market quickly with decreased investment and threats using the best-in-class ATCA, MRF or Media Resource Function and COM Express platforms from Radisys.
