InterDigital to Examine the Future of Wireless at Mobile World Congress 2012
InterDigital (News - Alert), Inc recently announced that it will showcase a suite of advanced wireless technologies at the Mobile World Congress, from February 27 to March 1, 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The company will demonstrate some of key components of these underlying technologies and emerging industry standards that offer wireless broadband connectivity for devices, networks and services worldwide.
In a release, William J. Merritt, President and Chief Executive Officer of InterDigital, said, "Building on prior major transitions, networks are now evolving from fixed, hard-connected sets of assets into a pool of assets that are dynamically, seamlessly and intelligently stitched together. This extends from the selection of spectrum, to the selection of radio access technologies, to even how we modify and adapt other key technologies like compression on the fly to deliver the experience requested by the user”.
"Redefine Mobile" is the theme at this year’s Mobile World Congress (News - Alert), as it is a clear indication of how the mobile world has expanded and moved past just mobile phones. The mobile world now spans a wide range of books, health monitors and payment transfer devices and also the latest mobile technology which are being incorporated into cars, homes, appliances and other parts of our everyday lives.
Merritt went on to say that "Only a highly flexible network will be able to effectively and cost-efficiently deliver the compelling and innovative services that mobile users, providers and applications are demanding. We believe it will become reality over the coming years, and this is the network that InterDigital is designing today."
