Bytemobile to Discuss LTE at Mobile World Congress 2011

Telecom infrastructure provider Bytemobile announced that it will discuss Long Term Evolution (LTE (News - Alert)) at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. Chris Koopmans, vice president of product development at Bytemobile (News - Alert), will present on the Network Breaking Point panel session.

The panel will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of LTE as a “data congestion cure” and will provide a detailed look at the current solutions operators are using to keep up with mobile data demand and prevent churn. LTE has taken off in the world with many operators started deployments.

Koopmans will discuss different ways operators are addressing the “capacity crunch” that will continue with LTE and present technologies that allow operators to prepare their networks for the forecasted increase in data consumption. It is an important session as many operators are keen to get insights into the network technologies available in the market.

According to company officials, Bytemobile’s Smart Capacity platform gives mobile operators the control of existing network resources to manage escalating subscriber demand for capacity due to video and other bandwidth-intensive content and applications.

By deploying the Unison (News - Alert) Smart Capacity platform in the mobile network, operators can defer costly network capital expenditures and control operating expenses, while improving revenue growth and profitability.

Last year, Bytemobile released findings of wireless network tests conducted on Apple’s iPad. These tests comparatively measured the volumes of mobile data traffic generated on the iPad and the iPhone (News - Alert) by the same popular applications. Bytemobile executed identical tasks on each device recording the resulting traffic in the wireless network. The company found that on average, the iPad generated more than 2.5 times the volume of mobile data produced by the iPhone.
