Octasic Launches Video Gateway Software for OCT2224M Chipset

Octasic Inc., an innovator of media processing and wireless solutions, has launched its new comprehensive video gateway software suite that enables its OCT2224M chipset to radically change the landscape of video applications in media gateways.

The latest release of Octasic's (News - Alert) Vocallo MGW software is a turnkey solution; therefore, it allows media gateway providers a quick and painless time-to-market. The software provides high-quality, high-density, high-resolution (1080p) processing with more channels per watt than any other solution on the market.

"As the industry continues to grow and expand, video has nearly eclipsed voice as the most urgent requirement, so the race is on to deliver video services," said James Awad, Octasic's product marketing manager, in a statement. "With this new software suite, Octasic is doing for video what the universal port concept did for voice. Our customers can quickly build a single platform that offers all codecs, services and call statistics for a next generation video gateway."

Octasic's OCT2200 series of DSPs enables OEMs entering the video conferencing space to implement a new video multipoint control unit (MCU) in a matter of weeks with Octasic's high-level API. It brings all the power-saving advantages of asynchronous circuits to a wide range of high-performance DSP applications. Incorporating up to 24 Opus2 DSP cores with a rich set of I/O interfaces and an optional ARM (News - Alert) core provides an ideal platform for a broad range of applications.

"Octasic's OCT2224M provides designers with the key features they need in a next-generation video chipset including support for up to 1080p video resolution, low power consumption per MIPS, a small footprint, and a low price point," said Ira Weinstein, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse (News - Alert) Research, in a press release. "In addition, Octasic's software package includes a wide range of video and audiocodecs and other tools to simplify product design and shorten time to market."

Octasic will demonstrate its new video software at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) in Barcelona, Feb. 14-17, Hall 2.0, Stand 2H71.
