Survey Reveals Priorities of Global Enterprise Companies

Webtorials Analyst Group commissioned and conducted a survey "Campus and Data Center Priorities," in order to examine the campus and data networking  priorities of global enterprise companies.

Avaya, a company, which provides unified communications, contact centers, and related services directly and through its channel partner, announced the results of the global survey.

According to the survey, it appeared that enterprises preferred networking solutions that were resilient, efficient and scalable in supporting the growing bandwidth demands of their communications technologies.

The findings of this latest survey seemed to be in keeping with the data networking solutions that the Avaya (News - Alert) had announced at the Interop Las Vegas 2010. Survey data, which examined global enterprise companies with more than 1,000 employees,  revealed that network security, resilience, uptime, cost management and ROI were rated as most important for networks that supported unified communication.

Actual figures of survey respondents, when translated, revealed that network security headed the attributes with 96 percent feeling that it was very important, followed closely by network resiliency with 95 percent. Network scalability and cost reduction were cited at 88 percent, while quality of service management concluded with 86 percent.

About 82 percent of the respondents surveyed indicated that in-service maintenance and repair was important, 81 percent indicated that consistent high availability was needed for network resilience and uptime.

Eighty-four percent felt that low total cost of ownership and optimized designs would greatly contribute to network efficiency, while 79 percent and 76 percent cited future-ready architecture and high-end capacity  respectively as being important for network scalability.

"These survey results confirm that in the current economic climate, users are keenly interested in getting the best positive value for a high-performance, secure network that allows the capabilities to be added as needed," Steven Taylor (News - Alert), Principal Analyst, Webtorials, said.

Taylor further added that currently there was a definite shift in the market, and network solutions were not what they used to be. Now the emphasis was on providing solutions that mapped the customer's unique infrastructural needs.

The Avaya Data Solutions announced at Interop (News - Alert) did just that, it directly addressed the customer's demands that were uncovered in the Webtorials survey.

"Avaya is committed to delivering data products that are faster, more cost-effective and consume less power to support the growing needs of today's bandwidth-intensive unified communications applications," Joel Hackney (News - Alert), president, Avaya Data Solutions, said.

Hackney added that the survey data only validated the company's strategy to deliver a portfolio that twas tailored to meet the customers data networking demands.
