Fujifilm Medical Systems highlighted updates to its SynapseRIS and Synapse TeleRIS systems at HIMSS this week. The updates actually came to market in late 2011 and included graphical dashboards, practice management applications and advanced dose management features.

“It's our mission to make the patient care tasks of our end users easier by providing them with improved tools that address the varying issues and scenarios that arise throughout their day,” said Jim Morgan, Fujifilm's Vice President of Medical Informatics. “The latest features found on Synapse RIS were designed with these users in mind.”

Version 6.1 of the application allows users to use graphical dashboards to monitor and to manage performance in real time. Practice managers can easily see data including patient wait times and patient volume so that issues can be immediately addressed. Many practices do not have access to this data until they generate either a weekly or a monthly report.

Another major improvement that came with Version 6.1 includes financial management tools. With powerful billing and management tools, the application improves cash flow by increasing insurance reimbursements, facilitating more accurate billing, and aiding the collection of payments for imaging procedures. With custom interfacing, the tool will increase any facility’s overall profitability while improving staff productivity.

Synapse will also roll out an update in July 2012 that will allow practices to attest to Meaningful Use and to obtain electronic health record incentive payments. Fujifilm became certified in Modular EHR and will continuously evolve the functionality of Synapse as needs within the industry change.

“With the latest version of our RIS and TeleRIS, users can access tools designed to address Meaningful Use requirements and manage patient dose,” said Morgan. “They can also have access to a new financial management optimization feature designed to improve facility operations.”

One business currently deploying SynapseRIS is Diagnostic Professionals of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. “Analyzing our practice's performance in real-time has always been a challenge,” says Claude Hanushak, Diagnostic Professionals COO.  “The new Analytics Dashboard on Synapse RIS will allow us to quickly and easily see what is happening and allow us to address minor issues before they become major problems.”
