"We are focused on delivering great, locally relevant apps, and importantly, those which offer unique, exclusive and original experiences,” said Marco Argenti, SVP of Nokia Developer Experience. “With Nokia Lumia smartphones now available in 48 markets, developers are rapidly recognizing the business opportunities and creating their best work for our consumers."

Other interesting new partnerships and apps include a PGA Tour app, exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices for a year following its launch in June. The app features live, enhanced coverage of PGA Tour events, including tournament scoring, highlights and player information as well as augmented coverage of select events and holes.

An ESPN (News - Alert) app will also be launched for Windows Phone this fall but will be a Nokia Lumia exclusive until May of 2013.

In the games category, all Windows Phone users can look forward to Rovio’s latest Angry Birds title, Angry Birds Space, “as soon as possible.” Rovio and Nokia will also partner to develop Nokia Lumia-exclusive content.

"Nokia is one of our longest-standing partners, and Windows Phone and Lumia are of strategic importance to Rovio,” said Mikael Hed, CEO at Rovio. “We are very committed to bring our games to Lumia devices, and are looking forward to delighting our fans on the Windows Phone platform."

Electronic Arts will also be adding a number of titles to the Windows Phone game library, including FIFA, Madden NFL, NBA Jam, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, Mirror's Edge and Yahtzee.

In lifestyle, Groupon will perform extensive upgrades its Windows Phone app, adding augmented reality deal discovery among other features. The app will be exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices for the first six months following its launch.

Similarly, driving social app Tripdots will release an app for Windows Phone, exclusive to Nokia Lumia users for the first three months after its launch.

Major apps like Paypal, Time Magazine, Newsweek and cloud storage service Box will all be released for the Windows Phone platform in the coming months, along with AOL’s (News - Alert) Entertainment Hub solely for Nokia Lumia for six months after launch.
