Powerwave Technologies' Wireless Transreceiver Selected as E-Tech Awards Finalist at CTIA

Wireless Solutions provider Powerwave (News - Alert) Technologies announced that its Universal WiMAX Digital Radio Head (DRH) has been selected as a finalist in the Third Annual Emerging Technologies (E-Tech) Awards at the CTIA (News - Alert) Wireless 2008 show.

The award identifies and gives recognition to the best wireless products and services in the areas of mobile consumer electronics, consumer mobile applications, enterprise solutions, network infrastructure, mobile widgets, and 4G devices.

Powerwave Technologies is a provider of end-to-end solutions for wireless communications networks. The company designs, manufactures and markets antennas, boosters, combiners, filters, repeaters, multi-carrier RF power amplifiers, tower-mounted amplifiers and advanced coverage solutions for use in cellular, PCS, 3G and WiMAX (News - Alert) networks.

The Universal WiMAX DRH developed by Powerwave Technologies is an IEEE 802.16e based wireless transreceiver that allows efficient multi-carrier operation and delivers twice the output power compared to competitive solutions.

Powerwave’s Universal WiMAX DRH incorporates a flexible CPRI interface and offers up to 20 MHz of instantaneous multi-carrier operation. The built–in flexibility enables modification of key parameters such as channel bandwidth, output power and TDD ratios, without gradation of firmware.

Khurram Sheikh, Chief Product and Development Officer, Powerwave Technologies, said in a statement: "Our universal WiMAX digital radio head exemplifies Powerwave’s leadership in the development of next-generation hardware, software and services that are designed to reduce capital and operating expenditures, and increase wireless networks performance for operators and OEMs."

"Powerwave is pleased to be recognized as a finalist in this year’s CTIA E-Tech Awards," said Ronald Buschur, president and chief executive officer at Powerwave Technologies, in a statement. "We are committed to supporting our valued customers around the globe in the deployment of state-of-the-art wireless coverage and capacity solutions. Having our Universal WiMAX Digital Radio Head recognized as one of the best wireless network infrastructure products helps to validate that we are meeting these objectives."

The Universal WiMAX Digital Radio Head product introduced earlier this year, and subsequently selected as an E-Tech award finalist from nearly three hundred submissions.
