Qualcomm Snaps up Screenovate's 'Beams' at CTIA Show

Wireless and Converged communications, wireless broadband and the mobile Web will all converge toward the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida from March 22-24, 2011 as the International CTIA (News - Alert) Wireless show gets under way.

Screenovate , a premier provider of Smartphone-Centric Computing software that beams the smartphone UI to other media platforms, such as TV, car display and PC monitors will demonstrate its wireless beaming solution for smartphones on Qualcomm Inc.'s Snapdragon Mobile Development Platform at CTIA by using the phone's motion sensors and touchscreen to control the game while it was displayed on the TV.

It is also expected to showcase its clientless connection of a smartphone to a Smart TV set via a Web browser, highlighting the Elastic UI framework by running an application on a smartphone and overlaying it on an HD movie. All demonstrations can be seen in the Qualcomm (News - Alert) booth at CTIA, no.3419.

In a press release, Gilad Ben-Yossef, CTO and Co-Founder of Screenovate Technologies expressed delight at the opportunity to optimize its solution for the Snapdragon MDP and said that it was yet another step for achieving its goal of becoming the leading software provider for Smartphone-Centric Computing.

This beaming technology is expected to enable better performance and easier integration on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Mobile Development Platform by smartphone OEMs and wireless operators.

Snapdragon-enabled Android (News - Alert) smartphones are provided with a high frame rate, low latency capability for beaming the phone user interface onto other media platforms. So with the help of a standard WiFi (News - Alert) connection, the phone user interface can be viewed on a TV, a car display or PC monitor.

Liat Ben-Zur, senior director of software strategy and ecosystems for Qualcomm said in a statement that the collaboration with Screenovate was a testament of Qualcomm's commitment to delivering enhanced capabilities for the Snapdragon platform.

He was appreciative of Screenovate's wireless beaming technology and rated it as an excellent example of the next-generation smartphone capabilities. He also noted that by utilizing the encoder end Elastic UI framework, a variety of novel use cases for smartphones could be enabled.

Screenovate's patent pending technology enables software only, high performance, interactive, UI mirroring over standard WiFi connection, and provides a powerful Elastic UI framework that optimizes the smartphone UI to the different uses case
