The Cobra iRadar for Android (News - Alert) detection system will be generally available from April 4, 2011. An announcement in this regard has been made by the top manufacturer of radar detection devices, Cobra Electronics Corporation.

The Cobra iRadar for iPhone was launched in October 2010. Some of the automotive and consumer electronics industries' most prestigious awards for design and innovation have been already won by Cobra iRadar. Along with its entire lineup of mobile/wireless products, Cobra Electronics is showcasing Cobra iRadar for Android at the 2011 International CTIA Wireless (News - Alert) exhibition.

Personal safety, driving peace-of-mind, and near real-time safety information updates are provided by Cobra iRadar to Cobra customers. Bluetooth wireless technology is used by the industry’s most advanced smart detection system to communicate between an advanced, dash-mounted radar/laser detector and the Cobra iRadar app.

Android users can download the Cobra iRadar app to their smartphones for free. Radar/laser alerts are displayed by the app when connected. The user can also control detector settings with this app. The app uses the AURA Camera & Driving Hazard Database to alert the driver of upcoming photo enforcement areas.

State-of-the-art radar and laser detection technology is provided by the sleek, compact, dash-mounted detection unit of the Cobra iRadar platform. Up-to-the-minute speed and red light camera alerts are provided by Cobra’s exclusive AURA Camera & Driving Hazard Database.

The platform also includes smartphone hardware technologies like GPS, Bluetooth short-range data connectivity, 3G/4G data services and a brilliant LCD display. Safety alerts, configuration, mapping software, compass heading, and car battery status are provided by a smartphone app included in the Cobra iRadar platform. Cloud-based services are also included in the Cobra iRadar platform.
