Sigma Designs Announces Availability of NeoVue Transmitter/Receiver Platform

Sigma Designs, a fabless semiconductor provider of highly integrated system-on-chip solutions, has announced that its NeoVue transmitter/receiver plug-and-play platform is now available for consumers.

The NeoVue platform allows for easy transmission of HD multimedia content from notebook/netbook to HDTV or projector at 1080p

Additionally, the NeoVue platform includes both a transmitter with a USB dongle, based on Sigma’s Coair wireless chipset, and a receiver that connects to a HDTV via a HDMI connector or to a projector via VGA connector. The transmitter captures the display and audio of the multimedia being displayed, encodes the media and sends it to the NeoVue receiver wirelessly to display in full 1080p on a HDTV or projection display.

According to Sigma, for wireless video streaming in the same room, the CoAir Chipset can transmit multiple HD video streams over-the-air to multiple HDTVs and other high-definition products simultaneously.

There is significant rise in the number of users who watch videos from streaming sites and due to advancements in technology those videos are available to them in high-def format itself, Sigma officials said.

Watching videos on the small screen of a notebook or netbook is highly inconvenient so users who were looking for a solution that would let them watch those videos over a bigger screen like their HDTV. The NeoVue platform was designed to solve this problem with its easy plug-and-play and affordable transmitter and receiver.

Officials with Sigma Designs (News - Alert) have stated that as the notebook and netbook market continues to grow, along with the popularity of over-the-top content and internet applications, the consumer desire for an affordable solution that can transfer high definition quality content from a small display to a HDTV or HD projector grows right along with it. Sigma’s NeoVue platform addresses this emerging market and helps consumers to enjoy their content on a TV with 1080p full HD without any wires in between and provides them the best-in-class wireless display-to-display technology.

Recently Sigma Designs and Ralink announced 802.11n WiFi (News - Alert) collaboration and Sigma Designs integrated Adobe Flash into its SoC solutions.
