ViewSonic Digital Photo Frames with Plug and Play Features Make CES Debut

ViewSonic Corp. has added seven new enhanced multimedia digital photo frames in a range of sizes to its lineup, the company announced at the 2010 CES (News - Alert) show in Las Vegas.

“Consumers want to enjoy and share memories with friends and family. However, as digital frame technology has grown more advanced, some people have become intimidated by these devices,” said Jeff Volpe, vice president and general manager of ViewSonic Americas. “ViewSonic’s new frames provide the leading multimedia connectivity that consumers want, with an intuitive design ideal for any age or technology background.”

The 8” VFP858 digital smart frame combines a full touchscreen with imaging technology and Bluetooth-powered mobile phone features. It offers a built-in microphone and stereo speakers to connect mobile phone to the VFP858 for hands-free dialing with clear reception, in addition to phone book syncing, caller ID and call history details. The frame automatically switches between content and incoming call modes for ultimate convenience.

Frame users can make phone calls without a service subscription and can directly stream audio/music wirelessly from computer, phone or other Bluetooth A2DP device to the VFP858. The VFP858 wouldn’t be a multimedia enhanced digital frame though without 802.11n connectivity to Flickr, Picasa, YouTube (News - Alert), Internet radio, FrameChannel, RSS news and weather. For added media options, the VFP858 also includes a USB port and supports most memory card formats for photo, audio and video file playback.

The 8” VFM842 offers full multimedia connectivity on an 800x600 high-resolution screen. An easy to use remote control is included. Also available in a 10” size option, the VFM1042 offers all the features of the VFM842, in addition to 1,024x768 high-resolution screen with 600:1 contrast ratio and auto rotation feature.

The stylish 8” VFM840 is enhanced with full multimedia features and this 800x600 high-resolution frame offers music and video playback. An LED backlight provides mercury-free energy savings, while the calendar, alarm, clock and auto rotation features provide enhanced functionality.

The slim 10” VFM1032 offers full multimedia functionality in a sleek and modern design. With 1GB of internal memory, this 800x600 high-resolution frame is suitable for enjoying favorite videos and listening to music while viewing photo slideshows.
For connecting to preferred digital content in a snap, the 10” WiFi (News - Alert)-powered VFP1039 is the ideal solution, according to ViewSonic. The frame features WiFi protected setup, which makes it easy to set up a wireless connection to enjoy content on Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, Internet radio, FrameChannel and custom RSS feeds.
