Panasonic Introduces Wireless IP Network Cameras

Panasonic (News - Alert) has announced their new plug-and-play and wireless IP network cameras. Both BL-C210 and BL-C230 are available from this month onwards and it will allow users to monitor their homes remotely.

Customers can select specific models of Panasonic's Internet-enabled plasma HDTVs, as well as PCs and cell phones for the purpose. Both models are available from select Panasonic authorized dealers including Amazon.com (News - Alert).

The BL-C210 is a sleek product with proprietary one-wire, plug-and-play installation. Panasonic has designed the wireless BL-C230 for a home or business setting. By leveraging the integrated Internet connection, customers can view camera output in real time full motion video from anywhere in the world.

A free personalized secure Web address enables them to enjoy this experience. Customers can also pan, tilt and zoom remotely, according to a release.

The BL-C210 and BL-C230 cameras use H.264 video compression. The company says that this technology provides higher video quality and uses half the amount of bandwidth compared to other formats.

Panasonic’s new products feature built-in sensors that detect body heat, sound and motion. Because the sensor settings are customizable, they can be used separately or all at the same time. A built-in memory ensures storage of images and the included recording software can connect up to 16 cameras.

According to Bill Taylor (News - Alert), president of Panasonic Systems Network Company of America, the new products enable people to conveniently keep an eye on what's happening while they're away.

These new Panasonic network camera models boast a state-of-the-art integration kit. This helps ensure compatibility with a number of solution applications including automation products and recording systems.

Panasonic’s BL-C210 and BL-C230 IP network cameras also include a built-in microphone, SSL support for secure Internet communication and privacy mode. The company is offering the BL-C210 IP network camera at a retail price of $199.95. The BL-C230 is available for $299.95.
