Monster Cable and Gennum Unveil New Cable Products for HDMI

Monster Cable and Gennum have joined hands to develop HDMI connectivity products to be manufactured and sold by Monster. Monster is leveraging Gennum’s ActiveConnect technology for recently announced Hyper-Speed products and will use the technology in its future HDMI cabling and switching solutions in its high performance lines.

According to Noel Lee, head Monster at Monster Cable, ActiveConnect allows Monster Cable customers to experience the complete set of features enabled by the most recent advances in high definition TVs, Blu-ray disc players, and other current and emerging CE products, at unprecedented distances in the residential environment.

By leveraging ActiveConnect in their HDMI cable solutions, the company intends to deliver the longest reach, highest performance HDMI cabling products in the industry and expects to exceed 21 Gb/s, which enables immediate support of future HDMI standards.

“Thus, moving forward, ActiveConnect enables our products to not only keep pace with the constantly evolving HDMI technology, but stay ahead of it so that our customers can be confident in their Monster 'cable for life' purchases,” said Lee.

Monster’s new products leverage Gennum’s ActiveConnect technology, and they will come with Monster’s “cable for life” performance guarantee. Through this guarantee, Monster assures their customers that they will upgrade the cables for free if they purchase future audio and/or video components that outstrip the data rate of select Monster cables they have purchased.

Franz Fink, president and CEO, Gennum, observed that Monster’s brand recognition and cable engineering skills combined with ActiveConnect's ability to deliver pristine A/V signals across extremely long distances establishes a new category of HDMI connectivity capability.

Also, as the combined capabilities of Monster Cable and Gennum push the outer limits of HDMI cabling solutions to 21 Gb/s and beyond, they further guarantee consumers the ultimate 'HD' experience, said Fink.

Both companies are displaying the new Hyper-Speed products at the Consumer Electronics Show.
