Renesas Mobile Showcases its MP5232 Platform' Advanced LTE Functionality
At the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Renesas Mobile demonstrated the advanced LTE functionality of its MP5232 chipset utilizing the Anritsu (News - Alert) MD8475A multimode network simulator.
Renesas worked closely with Anritsu in its Cat-4 LTE development and production, and the CES demonstrations also included Cat-4 throughput and VoLTE call performance.
Wade Hulon, general manager and vice president of Anritsu Company commented, “Anritsu is pleased to support Renesas Mobile with LTE (News - Alert) network simulation capability for this demonstration. Our MD8475A signaling tester is unique in its capability to provide one-box simulation of complex multimode wireless networks, including VoLTE servers. The flexible design of the MD8475A allows it to match customer needs today and in the future, as both data rates and network complexity increase even further.”
The platform’s low-power full HD 1080p multi-format video encoding/decoding subsystem is capable of supporting 1080p30 video format, 720p stereoscopic 3D video and all industry standard codec.
At its heart, the Renesas Mobile modem, deployed in over two billion devices to date, supposedly delivers the industry’s highest throughput and low-power multi-mode FDD and TDD-LTE Category 4 capabilities.
Other notable features of the MP5232 platform include a LTE Cat4 and DC-HSPA+ multi-mode baseband, Anritsu’s SmartStudio GUI for easy graphical control, low-power sensor control mechanism, GPS/WLAN/Bluetooth/FM Radio/NFC, USB2.0/HDMI, true cellular broadband mobility and full global coverage, and more.
In related news, Renesas Mobile introduced first integrated LTE triple-mode platform optimized for full-featured, high-volume smartphones and Anritsu’s Microwave Technology Center offered thin film fabrication services.
