The new release of TiVo’s (News - Alert) digital video recording service is notable for its gianormous storage and great new search capabilities, according to reports.

The Premier XL delivers a terabyte of storage, Internet video streaming and a better interface. But what is really creating excitement around this release is the customer-friendly way it presents content and enables users to browse for what’s available. That includes recommending Web video and providing show times along with information about programs, those involved in the programs and links to related YouTube (News - Alert) content.

Given the cablecos and the telcos now offer DVR services, not to mention offers from Netflix and rumblings that Apple may make a new push with Apple (News - Alert) TV, it’s an ideal time for TiVo to make such a strong showing on this front.
