Openet Enters into Partnership with Sandvine

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Openet, a provider of Transactional Intelligence, has entered into a joint partnership with Sandvine, a provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for cable, DSL, FTTx, fixed wireless and mobile operators, to bring a network policy control and charging solution to broadband and wireless network providers across the globe.

Openet (News - Alert) has become a major player in policy management and charging via its FusionWorks Policy Manager and Convergent Charging products.

Sandvine (News - Alert) offers its customers a sophisticated end-to-end network policy control solution that allows service providers to accurately understand and optimize network performance while providing policy enforcement to address congestion, add new services, mitigate malicious traffic and enhance their subscriber's quality of experience.

According to Openet officials, this comprehensive combined experience will enable operators to reduce churn, increase ARPU and improve customer service through deployment of a dynamic business control layer that is both service and subscriber-aware.

The service also enables fair usage, service passes and roaming controls.

The Openet-Sandvine pre-integrated, joint solution has been successfully and cost-effectively deployed in a North American wireless provider network earlier this summer.

"Given the evolution of 3G, 4G and LTE (News - Alert) networks, operators need to be able to understand and handle subscriber access to such broadband wireless usage”, said Mike Manzo, CMO of Openet.

Manzo said that Openet's heritage in high-performance event processing and transaction management software, coupled with Sandvine's network intelligence and network policy control capabilities, means that the companies jointly deliver a best-of-breed solution, which is crucial for operators looking to monetize new and existing service offerings.

Tom Donnelly, co-founder, executive vice president of marketing and sales, Sandvine said that partnerships, like the one with Openet, help extend the global footprint and offer service providers a simple way to quickly deploy new services, improve subscriber retention and enhance subscriber online quality of experience for fixed and wireless broadband networks.
