EnableTV Launches PC-Based Headend Solution DV-TIDE 2.0
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
DV-TIDE 2.0 supports host control over multiple DV-TIDE systems with a combined channel map, and delivery of bound and unbound applications that provide testing in an environment that is similar to a cable plant without a headend.
DV-TIDE is a PC-based headend solution designed for use in facilities with no headends, facilities with headends that require local configuration capabilities and also for demonstrations without access to headends. It is expandable up to 16 QAM channels and is available now in two server configurations. In addition, the DV-TIDE 2.0 system supports delivery of bound applications, unbound applications, SI data including channel maps, XAIT, VOD requests and control including RTSP and ISA support.
According to Walden Miller, vice president of services at enableTV, the company will demonstrate DV-TIDE delivery of bound ETV applications with in-stream triggers and unbound OCAP applications within the same DV-TIDE system at the CableLabs (News - Alert) Summer Conference. This is a significant step to providing full application testing without headends.
DV-TIDE will configure multiple services per QAM channel, with the number of services being dependent on the bandwidth of each service. It will create and repeat identical test conditions on demand and also configure and target individual test points for defect isolation. In addition, the DV-TIDE configures streams to simulate edge-case testing that might otherwise be more difficult on a production headend and also verifies and troubleshoots two-way interaction and controls with DV-TIDE's VOD client and server.
EnableTV offers a full ETV and OCAP test facility with Motorola (News - Alert) and Cisco headends. In addition, it provides more than 10,000 fully automated OCAP-specific and platform performance tests, remote testing and tru2way pre-certification services.
The company also provides interactive television technology and professional services solutions to network operators, consumer electronics manufacturers and content providers to accelerate the time to deployment.
Founded in 2008, enableTV’s team are pioneers in the iTV and advanced media industries with extensive experience in software engineering, iTV application design, testing, consulting, technical documentation and training.
